52 Sex Workers Arrested

The arrested sex workers at the taskforce office, Alausa, Ikeja.
Officials of the Lagos State Task force on Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit last night stormed Isaac John and Toyin Street in Ikeja, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria and arrested 52 suspected commercial sex hawkers.
The task force acted on a report published in The NEWS magazine of this week about commercial sex hawkers taking over the area and that yesterday was going to be the ladies’ night.
The task force officials first of all carried out a survey of the area around 10 pm and went back to the office to strategise only to strike around 12 am and arrested the suspected prostitutes whose ages range between 18 and 34 years.
They were taken to the task force office in a Black Maria. The raid was massive as several armed policemen carried out the onslaught.
Task force Chairman, Bayo Sulaiman confirmed the arrest when contacted, saying that there had been complaints and public outcry over the invasion of commercial sex hawkers in Isaac John and Toyin Street junction where there is a popular hotel whose owner also runs a night club.
“Isaac John is where we have the Government House and it is a criminal offence to engage in harlotry by the sides of the road. The people in the area have been crying over the upsurge of prostitutes in the area and the traffic gridlock by the night club,” he said. Sulaiman stated that the hotel and its night club had been causing untold traffic menace around Toyin Junction, saying that the owner of the joints had been served notice to abate the nuisance going on in the area.
“We have told the owner to desist from obstructing traffic in the area. We will not tolerate this anymore,” he said.
Sulaiman warned that the task force would extend the raid on commercial sex hawkers to Lagos Island, Ikoyi and Victoria Island where their activities had been on the increase, while urging those still in the trade to stop it as the wrath of the law would soon catch up with them.
“The state government will no longer condone this act of prostitution. These people are bad example to the youths. We have taken their photographs and finger print individually and when we apprehend them the second time, the punishment will be severe.
“We acted based on TheNEWS magazine report that Wednesday was going to be ladies’ night. We had to wait for that time and we struck and arrested them,” he stated.
The task force boss said the arrested commercial sex hawkers would be charged to court today, saying those convicted would be punished according to the dictates of the law.
He, however, said contrary to reports that once the prostitutes were arrested, some ‘big boys’ would settle task force officials to effect their release, the task force did not take money from anybody.
“We have arraigned several of them in court in the past and we had gotten conviction on some of them. The issue of collecting money is out of it. The so-called ‘big boys’ in the club don’t settle us,” he said.

The Men Who Killed Adams Oshimole's Aide Olaitan Oyerinde

Suspected killers of Oshiomhole’s aide
State Security Service on Wednesday in Abuja paraded six suspects for alleged involvement in the murder of Mr. Olaitan Oyerinde, who was the Principal Private Secretary to Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole.
The suspects – Mohammed Abdullahi, Raymond Origbo, Chikezie Edeh, Saidu Yakubu, Sani Abubakar and Hassan Bashiru – were arrested in addition to those held by the police.
Deputy Director, Media and Public Relations, SSS, Ms. Marilyn Ogar, who briefed newsmen, alleged that Oyerinde was murdered by Abdullahi, Origbo and Edeh.
The other suspects, Yakubu, Abubakar and Bashiru, were alleged to be buyers of stolen goods, who regularly buy stolen articles from the robbery gang.
They were reported to have bought items stolen from Oyerinde’s residence including four BlackBerry phones, one Ipad (sold for N10,000), one laptop, and  wedding ring. The gang allegedly took   unspecified sum of money belonging to Adeyinka Oletubo, brother-in-law to the late Oyerinde.....This our Nigeria, SSS said it was robbery, meanwhile Police arrested a Pastor and he is currently in prison...

Abubakar, 35, said he bought three BlackBerry phones and one Nokia C5 phone from Origbo for N52,000 and resoled at N57,000.
Ogar stated that investigations revealed that the careless statements by Oyerinde’s security guard, Ali Ihade, at various times about his master’s position in government attracted the attention of the prime suspect, Abdullahi, who hatched the robbery operation.
Ogar said, “On the day of the robbery, Abdullahi specifically instructed other gang members to tie up Ihiade before they entered Oyerinde’s residence so that Ihiade would not see his face.
“According to the robbery gang, Oyerinde was shot and killed by the prime suspect, Abdullahi, when he  (the deceased) ran into his bedroom and attempted to go underneath his bed.Abdullahi said he believed Oyerinde was reaching out for a gun under the bed and therefore shot him.”
She stated that the murder weapons comprising three guns used during the robbery had been recovered.
The suspects, she added, would be handed over to the police for prosecution.
The suspects denied knowing Rev. David Ugulor, who was arrested by the police in connection with the crime.
Origbo said Edeh took them to the house, adding that their plan was to rob Oyerinde, insisting that Abdullahi shot the former labour activist thrice.
Meanwhile, members of civil society organisations in Edo State, on Wednesday staged a peaceful protest along major streets of Benin against the continued detention of Ugolor.
The protesters also marched to the Anthony Enahoro State Assembly Complex and Dennis Osadebey Government House, in the Government Reservation Area.
Ugolor, Executive Director of African Network for Environmental and Economic Justice, was arrested last week Friday in Benin after a suspect arrested by the police named one ‘David’ as the sponsor of Olaitan’s assassination.
The protesting groups expressed sadness over what they described as the inhuman condition Ugolor has been subjected to since his arrest.

Oral Sex Crashes 11-Year Old Marriage

A 66 -year old retiree, Michael Adesanya Agboola, has said that he fell apart with his ex-wife, Funke Alasiri because he stopped licking her private part. But, his estranged wife has denied the allegation.
Michael Agboola
Agboola, whose 11-year old marriage to Funke was dissolved by the Agege Grade ‘A’ Customary Court, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, added that when he demanded an explanation for her unusual request, she told him it was the vogue among couples and that he must do it to satisfy her.
The Osun State-born driver who also claims his ex- wife forcibly evicted him from a bungalow he built on 26, Apode Street, Ojodu, Lagos, about four years ago in order to inherit it, said further that it is high time he challenged her in the open over the ownership of the house because of his futile attempts to get justice at the Lagos State Citizens Mediation Centre which he said declined to act on the matter for no clear reason.
“We started having problems because of her violent attitude and messy request for sex all the time. She was making sickening requests, asking me to lick her private part, which I did on several occasions. I never knew she applied juju on her private part to hypnotise me, because no sooner did I start licking her private part than I completely abandoned my first wife and four children.
“At a point, I warned her never to ask me for oral sex again. But one day, I was dressed for work when she rushed at me, begging me to come and suck her private part. It was then that I regained my consciousness and left her to marry another woman who has a child for me.”
He said:”I met her in 1997 during a visit to my dry cleaner in the neighbourhood. I saw her hawking clothes and bought two T-shirts from her. On getting home, my twin sons said I should buy them T-shirts too. The same day, I went back to my dry cleaner, who took me to Funke’s house.”
Agboola alleged that a few months later, he bought for her a plot of land foN650,000 on which she built a bungalow consisting of seven mini-flats and a shop.
“She told me that she would make three requests and that I should prepare for a showdown if I did not grant one of them. One, that I must divorce my eldest wife. Two, that I should give her permission to adopt a child. Three, that I should share my property with her because she feared that she might never get anything from my will if I died.
“I turned down the requests and queried her for wanting to adopt a child when I was not complaining about her childlessness. Moreover, she had two children from her previous marriage. It was at this point that she threatened to use the police to deal with me for rejecting her requests, and she boasted she would take over my property while I am still alive for being an ungrateful husband.
However,  Mrs. Funke Alasiri dismissed her ex-husband’s allegations describing them as rubbish and unfounded.
Her words:”When we went to Agege Customary Court where he  filed for a divorce suit, he mentioned the same thing, that I demanded for oral sex by asking him to lick my private part. He was rebuked by the President of the court.”

Travellers experience scarcity of trolleys at Abuja Airport

Abuja -Scarcity of trolleys has hit the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja, making it difficult for travellers to carry their luggage at the airport.
Trolleys are hard to come by at the airport, making porters to make brisk businesses, providing trolleys to travellers at the airport.
Mrs HenriettaYakubu, Deputy General Manager of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) confirmed the shortage of the trolleys at the airport.
She explained that porters were employed initially by FAAN to help aged people and travellers with excess luggage before the FAAN management decided to sack the porters because of their fraudulent activities at the airports.
“A window was opened whereby porters reached an agreement with the management to pay some amount of money monthly for the trolley in order to continue operating at the airport but with a warning not to demand money except it is given willingly by passengers.
“It is because of this abuse of opportunity that FAAN normally punished any porter caught in any illicit act within the airport by either suspending or dismissing them from operating in the airport, depending on the gravity of the offence,’’ Yakubu said
She said that FAAN had decided to make the trolleys available to porters who were to pay N5,000 monthly to FAAN, noting that it was for that reason that the porters, in turn, demanded money from travellers to help carry their luggage.
“Presently, the number of trolleys that we have at the airport is not enough to meet up with the demand of the passengers, due to high inflow and outflow of travellers at the airport daily.
“We cannot deny the fact of insufficient and unserviceable trolleys at the airport and this has been affecting the passengers but the management was looking into the matter before the issue of re-modelling of the airports came on board.
“ I believe things will change soon and the issue will be addressed as soon as possible because the re-modelling process is in phases; when it is time, the issue of trolley will be touched.
“Moreover, some private organisations have indicated interest in supplying us,’’ Yakubu said.
She said that pottering services at the NAIA had yet to be put on concession like at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, where trolleys were readily available for people to use at N100 for a trolley.
Mr Joe Obi, the Special Adviser to the Minister of Aviation, also confirmed the scarcity of trolleys at the Abuja Airport.
He told NAN that the ministry had procured more trolleys that would be supplied to airports across the country.
“More than enough have already been procured and would be deployed for use soon,’’ Obi said. (NAN)

Do medical checkup before vigorous exercis, expert warns

Abuja – An Abuja-based  medical practitioner on Tuesday warned Nigerians to endeavour to know the state of their health before engaging in vigorous exercises to prevent heart attack.
Dr Theresa Ikenwachukwu, Health Management Expert, who is in charge of the Abuja Children’s Home, in Karu, FCT, gave the warning in an interview.
Ikenwachukwu said the exercise could be dangerous when the person failed to know that he was hypertensive or had heart disease.
“It is always good to know the state of your health before engaging in any vigorous exercise, try to check your blood pressure and other tests to know the condition of your health.
“Exercise must not be vigorous; one can form the habit of using stairs instead of the lift, walk around the house or stroll along the street.”
She urged people to cultivate the habit of regular exercise because it enabled one to get rid of excess fat and also to get more oxygen into the body.
The doctor also advised expectant mothers to engage in regular exercises as such would keep their organs to be active because they had the tendency of developing hypertension.
“Our body is like an engine of a car, when a car is parked for five to six months without moving it, all the parts become stiff, so we need exercise.”
According to medical journals, these include strengthening muscles and the cardiovascular system, honing athletic skills, weight loss or maintenance and for enjoyment.
Frequent and regular physical exercise boosts the immune system, and helps to prevent the `diseases of affluence’ such as heart disease, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and obesity.
It also improves mental health, helps prevent depression, helps to promote or maintain positive self-esteem, and can even augment an individual’s sex appeal or body image. (NAN)

You’re After Me Because I Deny You Sex –Jim Iyke Replies Habiba Abubakar

The case that involved Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke and Habiba Abubakar, an Abuja based businesswoman of a  N15million fraud scandal, has escalated to the extent that Nigerians now wait for twitter updates from these two in other to judge who is right. Habiba had last week released documents and pictures of Jim Iyke at the police station.

But Jim Iyke has reacted to all the allegations by the married woman, claiming the story was false.
Below is how the actor reacted to the allegations on :
“ok folks, the idea of the shout out is to read between the lines and compare notes with the bogus claims. You know the subject matter and the topics. So, follow closely! “Please be advised that the subject matter will be referred to as the ‘lady from hell.
“Shout out to OBSESSION. That can drive a middle-aged mother to relentlessly pursue a youngman’s end because he refused your sexual advances. Peo aint dumb!
“Shout out to MOTHERS for their love and sacrifice. Any woman that can fabricate pictures and stories to hurt a mother invites an irrevocable curse. God judges!
“Shout out to the lady from hell for stealing pictures from my sister’s phone to photo-shop to insult my great mom. Won’t insult yours because my mom raised me better.”
The question of who is right and who is right seem to be less relevant by the day, and the big question of when will will this end seem to finding its way to the top.

Bollywood Actress Kidnapped, Beheaded By Co-stars

A young Bollywood actress, Meenakshi Thapar, was allegedly kidnapped and later beheaded by two actors in an attempt to extort 1,500,000 Rupees.
Thapar, 26, appeared in the Indian horror film “404″ where she met two aspiring actors who reportedly killed her on the set of her new movie “Heroine,” The Telegraph reports.
“Amit Jaiswal, 36, and his lover Preeti Surin, allegedly decided to kidnap Ms. Thapar after listening to her boast about her family’s wealth and status in Dehra Dun, in the Himalayan foothills of northern India.”
The Telegraph states that the two actors invited her on a trip with them to Gorakhpur — a small town close to India’s border with Nepal — where they held her hostage and demanded 1,500,000 Rupees from Thapar’s parents.
Although her mother paid 60,000 Rupees, Thapar was killed shortly after.

Narrating his ordeal to P.M.NEWS, at the Intensive Care Unit of the UCTH, the final year student of Education Technology in the Faculty of Education at the University of Calabar said he and Dorothy have been lovers for some years  and that they spent the night before the day of the attack together.
“We even had passionate sex that night.  It was in the morning that she did this to me without any fight.”
On what may have prompted the lady to inflict such damage on his body, he said that “Dorothy had once complained that some people had told her that I was dating another lady whom I intend to marry and abandon her after these several years together.  But I reassured her that it was not true that people were only trying to destroy our relationship.  It did not occur to me that she was still harbouring the grudge,” he said.
He said the morning the incident happened, they woke from bed without any sign of trouble and he led her on morning devotion. “It was when I was rounding off the prayers with my eyes still shut that she sneaked out and brought the paint rubber where she hid the acid and oured it on me.”
He said his girlfriend who is from Agwagwune in Biase area, Cross River State like himself,  attacked him while he was not wearing a shirt, so that the acid would have maximum impact on his body.
“After pouring the acid on me she said ‘if the God you are praying to supports your plan, I will now see the woman that will accept you with your eyes blind and face destroyed’ and she ran away”.
Doctors at the UCTH confirmed that one of Edmund’s eyes had been completely destroyed while the second one could be salvaged.

Africa’s king of R&B, Darey Art Alade proves to us once again that he is ahead of his game with the release, today, of the long-anticipated video for his hit single “Sisi Eko” (remix featuring Flavour)
The big-budget video shot in the heart of Lagos in May, with a cast and crew drawn mainly from Lagos and South Africa, shows Darey and Flavour taking turns in trying to woo a beautiful and elegant Lagos lady who they spot window-shopping, as they ride together in the famous Lagos traffic.
Things get tense as the drama builds, with neither Darey nor Flavour willing to let go – motorists complain bitterly as both men cause traffic to further build up, but they’re so lost in the competition, that nothing would move them.
Who ends up winning the heart of ‘‘Sisi Eko’’?
Produced by Soul Muzik, Directed by Mark Hofmeyr and supported with stunning and trendy African prints by the first pan-African print brand by and for Africa, the popular WOODIN! Darey brings to us; as has become characteristic of him, a rare blend of creativity that is conspicuous in the choreography and mostly woodin costumes.
Cameo appearances include Ali Baba, DR SID, Seun Kuti, Waje, Omawumi , DJ Jimmy JATT, Julius Agwu, MoEazy, Zaina and many others.

My Wife is a tigress, she bites me frequently, man tells court

Lagos – A 44-year-old civil servant on Tuesday asked an Ojo Customary Court to dissolve his marriage, accusing his wife of 10 years of biting him at the slightest provocation.
The petitioner, Samuel Yisa, described the incessant bites by his 33-year-old wife as “animalistic and a wicked act of defence”.
“This woman is a tigress. Even before any quarrel between us becomes heated up, she will spontaneously reach for any part of my body and bite me.
“I kept reporting to her parents with the hope that she would be cautioned but now, I want a divorce,’’ he said.
He told the court that he was once hospitalised following a deep cut on his hand as a result of her bite.
The respondent, Victoria Yisa, begged the court in tears, stating that she has become a changed wife and asked the court president to help save her marriage from collapse
“I am no longer a fighter as I have changed sir and this act will not repeat itself,’’ she said in tears
The acting court president, Mr S.B Giwa, asked the couple to return home and settle their differences and report back to the court and adjourned the case to Oct. 23. (NAN)
